Dormeuse French Paste Style Silver & Gold Earrings are based on an 18th century 'sleeper' or 'dormeuse' earring popular throughout the eighteenth and nineeteenth century made with either diamonds or French paste stones.  I am fascinated with this design and have taught myself how to make these earrings by studying antique jewellery.  These earrings are made from cushion cut cubic zircona which give the effect of real diamonds mounted in a hand cut sterling silver castellated setting, suspended on 9ct gold shepherd hooks.  The earrings are made in my Dorset studio and hallmarked at the Goldsmiths Assay Office in London.
Each stone and silver setting measures 11.5mm square and the earring measures 22.5mm from the top of the gold hoop to the base of the silver setting.
